West Cornwall Tours
Western Discoveries provide minibus tours of West Cornwall. They typically last 4 hours, cover the region’s most spectacular and interesting sites and are a great way to learn a little more about this fascinating county. Open tours are run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from April to November. Private tours are available from mid March and can be scheduled for any day of the week.
Lasting just over 4 hours, the open tours take up a whole morning and get you back in time for a late lunch. There are 8 passenger seats in the minibus and the cost is £35 per person and £15 for under 12s (please note that this does not include entrance into any attractions).
We like to get in a bit of walking if its nice weather, but this also depends on everyone else on a tour, so bring a coat and some sun protection just in case. Many of the more interesting sites require climbing over rough granite steps or walking over uneven ground but we usually find something to keep everyone happy if this is a problem.
Sticking to the Lands End Peninsula, or Penwith as we call it (west of St Ives and Marazion), we typically visit half a dozen sites (plus the scenic miles in between) and stop off to enjoy a coffee half way round. Itineraries are open and depend on what every one would like to see and what they have already seen. Below are some of the places that we visit:
Men an tol
Carn Euny Iron Settlement & fogou
Merry Maidens stone circle
Boscawen Un stone circle
Boscadnen Nine Maidens stone circle
North Coast Road
We concentrate on spots away from the crowds but if you really really want to, we can include some of the crowd pullers such as Lands End.
