Tate St Ives (Shop)
Type: Arts & Crafts Shop
Tate St Ives opened in 1993, on a spectacular site overlooking Porthmeor Beach, and has a lively and varied international exhibition programme, with three seasons of exhibitions each year. A selection of works from the St Ives School of Artists (who were seen as being at the forefront of British Modernism) is always on display. The main exhibition shows major figures in British contemporary art, and our regular programme changes ensure that if you visit more than once a year you will see something different every time.
Tate St Ives also manage the Barbara Hepwoth Museum & Sculpture Garden, which gives a remarkable insight into one of the 20th Century's most important sculptors. Sculptors in bronze, stone and wood are on display, with paintings, drawings and archive material. The subtropical garden was an essential part of Hepworth's creative process and she made many of her most famous works there. On her death in 1975 it became a permanent setting to exhibit her works. Since 1980 the Tate has managed both studio and garden.
Tate St Ives is open every day March - October 10.00-17.30, November - February Tue-Sun 10.00-16.30 (Closed every Mon Nov-Feb and 24,25,26 Dec). These may vary so please check before arriving.
